About Anvi Legal

A Kathmandu practice built around clear advice and steady representation. We act for companies and for the people who work for them, in the offices where records are held and the courts where disputes are decided.

What We Do

Anvi Legal practises company and commercial law, labour and employment, family law, property and land, criminal defence, and foreign employment claims. Six areas, one office, so a matter that crosses between them does not have to cross between firms.

We appear before the District Courts, the High Court and the Supreme Court, and before the Labour Office and the Foreign Employment Tribunal. Much of the work never reaches a courtroom at all: a company registered properly, a contract read before it is signed, a title checked before money moves.

Working With Us

What To Expect

The same four steps whether the matter is a company registration or a contested partition claim.

1

A first consultation

Bring whatever documents you have, even incomplete ones. We tell you what the matter looks like and what it is likely to involve, and you leave without having committed to anything.

2

The record, before the argument

We gather what already exists on paper: the contract, the certificate, the file, the land record. Most matters are decided on these long before anyone makes a submission.

3

A written position and a cost

You get our honest assessment, including when it is that you should settle, together with the steps, the likely timeline and what each stage costs.

4

Representation to the end

One advocate stays with your matter from the first filing to the final hearing, and you are told what happened after each one rather than having to ask.

Representative Matters

Case Victories

Illustrative outcomes from the practice. Details are generalised, and no client is identified.

Dismissal overturned at the Labour Office

An employee terminated without a hearing was reinstated with back pay, because the employer kept no record of the explanation it claimed to have sought.

Partition claim resolved after nine years

A family dispute that had stalled through three earlier counsel moved within months once the land records were assembled properly and the estate was established.

Foreign investment approved in a restricted sector

A joint venture was structured so the approved purpose and the shareholding both satisfied the Department of Industry at first filing.

Recruitment fees recovered in full

A returning worker recovered charges taken above the legal limit, on the strength of transfer receipts and messages kept from before departure.

Bail secured at the first hearing

Counsel appeared at the custody stage with proof of local ties and employment, and the accused was released rather than remanded for weeks.

Boundary encroachment settled without trial

A field measurement and a corrected record established the true line, and both neighbours signed rather than litigate over half a ropani.

Beyond The Office

Community Involvement

Access to advice decides more outcomes than advocacy does. A good deal of what reaches us as a crisis began as a question nobody could afford to ask, so part of the practice is given over to work that carries no fee.

  • Free legal clinics for returning migrant workers
  • Pro bono representation in domestic violence matters
  • Know your contract sessions before departure abroad
  • Internships that put law students in court, not in archives

What Drives Us

Our values

Say it plainly

Advice you cannot act on is not advice. We say what we think will happen, in language that does not need a second translation.

Start with the record

The certificate, the contract, the file. What exists on paper decides most matters before argument begins.

Honest about odds

We would rather lose a retainer than take a case on a promise we cannot keep.

Confidentiality

Family and criminal matters in particular stay between the client and the advocate handling them.

Access

A first consultation should be affordable enough that nobody puts off getting advice until it is too late.

Both sides of the table

We act for employers and for workers, and each practice is better for understanding the other.
